Papohaku, commonly called 3 Mile Beach, is one of the biggest and most beautiful beaches in all of Hawaii. The beach is actually over 3 miles long and about 300 yards wide, making for a spectacular venue.

The best thing about this well-known and loved strip of sand is that it is often deserted. It is not uncommon to find yourself completely alone in paradise here. Strong trade winds coming from the west can whip up the sand along this long beach making it quite uncomfortable during windy weather. Beach amenities are fair and include: Restrooms, Showers, Drinking water and Picnic facilities.

Swimming is fair, snorkeling and diving are excellent but be aware that there are no Lifeguards on duty at this beach. Use EXTREME caution before entering the water here due to seasonal high surf, especially during the winter months.
