Ho’okipa is the place to kick back and watch the colorful action of amazingly talented windsurfers. This beach is known as the best place in the world for windsurfing. It is the home of two major world-class windsurfing competitions. Due to the strong surf, windsurfing at this beach should be limited to the experts. However, the beach has an 1/8 mile coral reef that makes a pond-like area perfect for taking a dip in the early morning or when the ocean is more calm.

This is the perfect location for photographers to experience a new subject to shoot. The lines of cars sprinkled with surfers and other spectators also have artistic interest when it comes to snapping a few shots. There are some services and amenities including:

There is are no lifeguards at this beach so please be careful. Dangerous surf and strong currents are usually present here all year round. Surfing and windsurfing should be limited to experts. Monitor ocean conditions closely at all times. Obey all postings and warnings.

The beach is close to diverse and quaint Paia town. A great place to find some lunch or check out an unique boutique. The town is popular for it’s health food store and colorful personality.
